The Youtube football channel Tifo Football, whose data-driven analysis videos have exploded in popularity with over half a million followers, recently did a video (below) on our very own Everton FC by recommending a few sensible summer transfers.
Recommendations from their team include striker Albian Ajeti from Basel (the same club Chelsea originally signed Mo Salah from), Genk’s very talented 22 year old attacking full back Joakim Mæhle and 26 year old Belgian midfielder Hannes Van der Bruggen.
What we found particularly interesting is Tifo Football’s data-heavy approach which is becoming a very common scouting method in comparison with the traditional methods in the football industry.
They also recommend signings which wouldn’t break the bank – something Everton might have to be careful of doing with a new stadium planned, despite the wealth of Moshiri and Usmanov.
Either way, Director of Football Marcel Brands has made it pretty clear that he favours a one-in-one-out approach, meaning we might have to see a few more departures of deadwood before we see any significant signings.
